The roller lanes are fixed at an incline on the racking beams. Pallets are loaded at the higher end and slide down the rollers by gravity. To control the sliding speed and avoid impact, damping systems are installed at regular intervals along the roller lanes. A separation mechanism at the lower end separates adjacent pallets, allowing the front pallet to be retrieved smoothly.
Gravity racking offers higher space utilization than push back racking and drive-in racking, and achieves true FIFO (First-In, First-Out) operation. Its safety and operational efficiency are comparable to selective pallet racking.
